Overview
GITA is a Saudi travel booking app that helps travelers search and book flights, hotels, holiday packages, and visa services, with hotels as one of its core revenue streams.
Users were actively searching for hotels, but very few moved from browsing results to completing a booking.
The design goal was to make hotel options easier to evaluate and compare, and to shorten the path from search to booking.
The Problem
Users searched for hotels but rarely progressed to booking
Result cards had weak hierarchy, with price, rating, and rewards competing for attention
A quarter of sessions hit a manual region-selection step before users could even search
Inconsistent Arabic RTL layouts reduced clarity and trust
Research & Insights
Analyzed session recordings, heatmaps, and funnel data using Microsoft Clarity
Benchmarked hotel flows against Booking.com and Trip.com
Found that users needed faster price comparison and stronger trust signals before committing
The Approach
Redesigned hotel result cards around a clear decision hierarchy: property, rating, then total stay price
Tied loyalty rewards directly to the booking decision to add value at the right moment
Reduced pre-search friction so users reach hotel results faster
Added map view and filters to speed up comparison
Redesigned the hotel detail page with an immersive gallery and key info above the fold
Refined the Arabic-first RTL experience across the entire hotel flow
Impact
Achieved a 40% increase in hotel booking conversion within 30 days of launch through a redesigned hotel discovery and booking flow
Delivered a 34% reduction in pre-search friction, getting users to hotel results faster
Reduced dead taps by 40%, with zero rage taps recorded, reflecting clearer and more intuitive interactions
Shipped to a live product serving ~29K users, strengthening GITA's position in the Saudi travel market
